My Precious

December 23, 2008

Sunday i was quite excited to go to the stadium for the Singapore Vietnam game. Got the tickets from 1 of my friends, who was kind enough to help me get the tickets.

So after soccer in the morning, rested awhile and i was ready to set off to the stadium. On the way to the stadium a funny thing happen. I called Ryan while i was along Aljunid Road.

Randy: eh where are u? late is it

Ryan: no lah, i in cab just went pass aljunid mrt.

Randy: is it i also just went past leh, which cab u in, comfort or yellow colour 1?

Ryan: Im right in front of you.

Hhaahhahahaaha, the chances of actually meeting was pretty low. So both of us were quite amuse about this hahahaa. Anyway Ryan stop the cab and got onto my car and we drove towards the stadium.

As usual, during a big game, the carpark will be damn full. Full with people and cars. People will anyhow walk like their grandfather buy the road. Car will anyhow park like their father buy the double yellow line. By right during such games, you anyhow park also wont kanna summon, cause the TP will ”understand”. The roads will be so full that if you drive Cch mercs, confirm jialet. Want to turn here turn there sure very frustrated. Anyway we manage to find a carpark at quite a distance from the stadium.

When we went into the stadium it was around 745pm. Already the stadium is damn full, we had to settle for the seats behind the goal post. Which is the lousiest seats. The vietnam fans which amounted to about 3000 were very spirited. In fact many a times they sang louder than the Singapore fans. Maybe i can think of a few reasons. 1 of them being that we don’t have any ”cheers”. The only cheers we have is ”ole ole ole” hahaha. And the so call fame ”kallang wave”. Problem is, this 2 cheers are used widely all around the world. The vietnam fans had many cheers though 90% we don’t understand, but still it was organise and spirited.

Generally Singapore team is much much superior to Vietnams team. Don’t even bother about the first leg. Vietnam will only control the game like that against Singapore once like in 10 years. In the return leg, it was thought that we would easily kill them off. We controlled the game for the whole 90mins, had numerous chances but we just could not convert it. Then against the run of play, they manage to nick 1 in. Unbelievable, but its football damn it!

A lot of people complain about Precious. Even when i listen to class 95, Glenn Ong also said that Precious was a ”retarded Sendoros”. And we all know Sendoros is not a very good player. Kinda of harsh to say that BUT somehow i agree. Precious was the weakest link of the national team, he is so damn slow that nothing else matters. Yes he is strong n good in the air but he is really really slow. Even when we were losing 1-0, and Precious was playing upfront, he didnt even manage to get 1 header. CRAP!

The other player is Noh Alam Shah, another crap player. Dyes his air like some ah beng, but cannot even farking shoot when presented with an open chance. These people are freaking lucky G0d gave them a talent. But no, this guy kicks the hell out of another fellow professional during an S league game and got ban for 9 months. Professionalism? Hahaha.

This are the 2 players which kick Singapore out of the Suzuki cup. The rest were ok. Face it, both of you screwed up.

The last matter i will touch on was the treatment of Vietnam fans. Sort of a disgrace by some Singaporeans. They keep taunting the Vietnam fans and throwing bottles at them. And i thought we were from a cultured society. Funny people. Those present know which ”people” im talking about. Totally disgraceful. But not surprising from them.

树倒猴子跑!

My dad use to tell me this above sentence when you use to be around. This is like a Hokkien idiom. Hokkien got a lot of funny funny idioms which takes very real life things and put it into perspective. The meaning of this idiom  generally means that when the tree drops, the monkeys run (split would be a better word). Giving an example, if a leader in a group leaves the group, the group would split as there is no one to lead or hold them together.

Generally in every places that I have been, there is always someone who is more prominient or have higher influence. For example, in school soccer, Gabriel is that someone who leads. I would say that in every group or situation a leader is needed. A successful group will have different leaders for different situation. Why? Because everyone have different talents.

A good example would be, in a band. There is a group leader, he handles interviews, make arrangements of their practise dates or shows. The group leader might not be the lead singer and might not be the person who writes songs. Writting songs might be by the guitarist who would be the leader for writing songs. If the group leader had been the person who bao ka liao, do you think the group would be successful? Difficult right. If everyone of the band members were a leader in different aspect of the band, all of them would put in maximum effort in their roles. 10 persons power is definitely better than 1, no matter how smart or enthu that 1 person is.

You can say that though i don’t trust people easily, but im a strong believer of team work. Too many cooks spoil the broth, but with many cooks you can whip up another dish faster. 1 cook who spoils the broth is screwed.

What im trying to put across today is about my group of friends i trust. In 1 way or the other, maybe due to having clashing schedules we have all sort of drifted out. Some complain about the unsteadiness of others (ok i admit, me), while some just feel what the majority of the group is doing is boring.

As the above, i guess we have to give and take to continue as a group. I don’t want to write my views as i don’t want to sway people into thinking 1 way or the other. If you’re reading my blog, and you know you are in my group. Take a moment to think, everyone is just a phone call away. Its Christmas, forgive and forget. Make this group better and stronger. Cause you know, the strength of one person alone is not good enough to challenge the world, we have to unite to succeed.

Everyone put in an effort, be the leader in their roles. The tress won’t fall, the monkeys won’t split.

Faint

I am a little bit of loneliness a little bit of disregard
Handful of complaints but I can’t help the fact that everyone can see
these scars
I am what I want you to want what I want you to feel
But it’s like no matter what I do, I can’t convince you, to just believe
this is real
So I let go, watching you, turn your back like you always do
Face away and pretend that I’m not
But I’ll be here cause you’re all that I got

”I can’t feel the way I did before
Don’t turn your back on me
I won’t be ignored
Time won’t heal this damage anymore
Don’t turn your back on me
I won’t be ignored”

I am a little bit insecure a little unconfident
Cause you don’t understand I do what I can but sometimes I don’t make sense
I am what you never wanna say but I’ve never had a doubt
It’s like no matter what I do I can’t convince you for once just to hear
me out
So I let go watching you turn your back like you always do
Face away and pretend that I’m not
But I’ll be here cause you’re all that I’ve got

I still remember few years back i was chatting with Chenghan though i doubt he remember haha. We were chatting about our luck. Throughout our numerous conversation of luck, he was always the unlucky 1 and i was always the lucky 1. I still remember we both agree that 2008 which was the year of the Rat, is the year we going to make it. At the back of my mind, from that day on, i was looking forward to the year of the Rat to ”make it” if Cch. Fact is, 2008 is the worst year of my life (don’t ask, i won’t say, but however God wants to make it difficult for me – bring it on).

On the topic of luck between Cch and me. He was the one always unlucky. I hate to say this but yes i felt that he had really bad luck. Whenever something with a 50 percent chance to go either way, he seems to always kanna the bad way. While i admit, when talking about luck i was always on top. I suppose in some ways, God is fair, you win some you lose some. He can’t let you win in everything. Chenghan, im not berating you, im just taking you as an example if you don’t mind and i know you won’t. This year i have been extremely unlucky, i hate to blame it on luck. I use to tell people who wish me good luck that ”no i don’t need luck, the opponent does”. 9/10 times i win. I call this ability, some people call it luck. But because i’m so unlucky this year, i got to say that without luck, i think i’m nothing. Roy Keane said in his biography (Guowen where is my book!), ”you match your opponent, tooth for tooth, leg for leg, spirit for spirit, and then true ability will show.”  I cant say i didnt do the above, but still i don’t see results. What i see is problems after problems. Anyway to end this silly passage, i hope Cch and my luck change for the better =)

Ok next thing i want to mention is about my birthday celebration on Sunday 7 December. I celebrated at St James (Mono). Cch was kind enough to do all the planning though i know these days he quite sian. Thanks for that mate. So I reach at around 11pm, there were quite a lot of people that came. So was quite happy lah. I mean i guess everyone had a great time judging from the comments that everyone gave. But there was 2 factor that made this day a day to remember. 1) Alcohol which got the mood going. 2) Uncle Boon. To say the Guowen (Boon), was the livewire of the party was an insult to him. He was THE party. Without him i guess not everyone would laugh so much. Of course i appreaciate the fact that Guowen was not shy and made an effort to entertain everyone, whether that was alcoholic induced behaviour we should not think about it hahaha. Even when i’m driving and then i imagine Guowen going ”I wonder if you know, how they live in Ang Mo Kio, beep beep beep”, I can’t help but laugh my ass off. Guowen you very stress in school is it? hahaha.

The other thing which made this day a happy day was seeing many people turning up. Of course as usual Ryan king gave excuses to excuse himself to a nightspot. But excluding him and Kaili, everyone turn up. Nowadays to have the whole gang coming out is more difficult than Singapore qualifying for the world cup.

I totally enjoyed myself. Though i’m not the type who seems that i enjoy myself. Cause i prefer to stand by a side to see how people react. I enjoy this more than partying actually. And i’ve been amuse by many a stranger.

Thanks everyone for that birthday. I’m still waiting for the videos from Weeboon. I will let my whole family see hahahahaha. Sorry Boon, my sister very interested to see you perform. HAHAHAHAHA.

Just Lose It

December 4, 2008

Ronaldo lost it during the weekend by getting himself red carded and giving the stupidest excuse i have heard. I hate to say this but, I TOLD YOU, didnt i?

After he won the Balloon Award (i dunno how to spell but its sort of European footballer of the year), he didnt talk about football. He talk about himself, about how people pick on him blah blah blah. Does Cantona do that? Or even Beckham, i bet the media and fans treated Beckham 10 times worst. You see Beckham complaining?

This is a person who makes 120 000 pounds a week, who claims that life is unfair and that he should be treated fairly. Hmmmm…

Anyway his character aside, he fully deserves to win every award there is this year. Even Sir Bobby says he is better than George Best. Scary.

The Bucket List

December 2, 2008

Yesterday watch this dvd called the bucket list. Really good, straight away rank among my top 5 movies. Maybe its because of the content of the show, which revolves around ”death”. And the topic on ”death” makes people very curious.

This show is about 2 persons, namely Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Both of them are diagnosed with cancer and only had 1 year to live. Coincidentally they met in the hospital and became friends.

Jack Nicholson character in the movie is, very rich, lonely, no family, many wives, don’t care a hoot about people’s feelings, rag to riches, white.

Morgan Freeman character is some sort like the total opposite, poor, black, didnt had a choice to chase his dreams, love his wife, love his children, happy close knit family.

Black and white man in a movie, rich and poor – winning recipe.

After they knew that they were going to die, they decided to draw a list. Which is called the bucket list. In this list are things which they want to do before they ”kick the bucket”. I’m not going to tell you the whole story, you can borrow the dvd from me. Below is their bucket list (i copied this list from Wiki, can’t expect me to remember all lah!) :-

  1. Witness something truly majestic
  2. Help a complete stranger for a common good
  3. Laugh till I cry
  4. Drive a Shelby Mustang
  5. Kiss the most beautiful girl in the world
  6. Get a tattoo
  7. Skydiving
  8. Visit Stonehenge
  9. Spend a week at Louvre
  10. See Rome!
  11. Dinner @ La Cherie D’or
  12. See the pyramids
  13. Get back in touch (previously “Hunt the big cat”)
  14. Hong Kong
  15. Victoria Falls
  16. Serengeti
  17. Ride the great wall of China

Ever thought whats your bucket list? Ever thought what was your bucket list when your were 12 years old. And how the bucket list evolve while you turn 24, 45, or 72 (Marslow theory of needs, but we won’t get into that haha.)

I’m 24 this year, this my bucket list for now, lets see where i stand when i turn 30 :-

1) Own a ferrari.

2) Watch a game in Old Trafford (EPL game lah, not coca cola cup.)

3) Amass a fortune for 3 generations.

4) My mum be proud of me.

5) Being able to contribute significantly for the greater good of Singapore.

6) Having enough time to have a gathering (once a week with family, once in 2 weeks with friends.)

Ahhh i also dunno what else can write. Anyways for those we have watch the show and enjoyed it, i would introduce this book to you – Tuesday with Morrie. Bet you will like it too.

”We need a list

A Bucket list

Not written to tease

But to make sure my life exist.”

Whats your bucket list?
