Who am i talking about ? Guess.
This guy stayed at a club for 20 odds years. Brought them countless titles. Known for his fiery temper he have tone down in recent years. In fact, he doesnt seem to get angry. Nowadays he seems to prefer fatherly love than scolding his players. Yes, he is Alex Ferguson. I wouldnt say he is the best manager ever, cause that would be an insult, he is the greatest whether you like it or not. Many ”great” managers inherited already good squad, made some small changes and won titles. AF made Man united what they are today. AF = Man United, Man United = AF, period.
I have always made known my high respect for this guy, and yes he ranks above in my respect list.
But today’s post is not about saying how great this already great guy is. Its about Mr Benitez. I’m really taken aback that he launch the media salvo on Alex Ferguson. Saying that he gets all the major decision and whenever get talks the FA doesnt control him blah blah. Ok fine, it’s a fact that big clubs always get the decision. I mean it irons out through out the season doesnt it? And i dont even wish to write about specific incidents (read: Garcia goal).
What Mr Benitez is trying to do here is to make refrees give decisions against Man U. But if i were Mr Benitez now, i would lie low. You know, being in an unfamiliar position( top of the table for now), i would hope that the spotlight would be less on my team. Maybe he wanted to take the spotlight off Gerrard? But he could have use another method. Like maybe say that Torres is a better striker than Rooney. At least this is quite true. I hope he doesnt start the mind games so early, cause i got a gut feeling its going to back-fire on him. If you want to win the epl title which spans 38 gruelling games, i say concentrate on the epl title. You might have a chance, in fact a big chance.
As we know by now that Man U have won against the mighty Chelsea. And Liverpool have drawn against Stoke. What have taken me aback was the tactics employed my liverpool. They had Torres and Keane on the bench. Could Mr Benitez tell me what is in his tactical brian? And why is Alonso not playing (is he injured? im not sure). The creativity was lacking and it was obvious. Kuyt was like a headless chicken running around. And honestly Gerrard was not in the game. In the game i kept looking out for him, and most of the time he was strolling. I’m not sure what’s bothering him in the game, but he kept strolling around. Not his usual self. Thinking about his court case?
Anyway nothing much, just wanted to remember this day as Mr Benitez having a go at AF. We’ll see what happens in the end.
